Particle diameter of mist nozzle
This section shows about particle diameter of mist nozzle
Definition of mist regarding spray nozzle
EVERLOY defines fine particles which are created by two-fluid nozzle or MOYA nozzle.
Relevant information
Learn more about two-fluid nozzle types
Spray nozzle can create fine particle which is important factor evaluated as spray nozzle specification. It is looked for the point of cooling efficiency or optimization, and typically used for cooling, thin coating and spray drying.
Change of particle
The particles created by spray nozzle changes as follows;
Fluid changes from laminar or liquid column then become droplets
Control of particle diameter
The factors to control particle diameter are pressure, internal structure and to use air.
1. Pressure: Particle become smaller if pressure is increased
2. Internal structure: Particles become smaller if internal structure made liquid turn around.
3. To use air: Air supports to make particle diameter smaller.
Method of measurement for particle diameter
General methods to measure particle diameter are immersion method, Phase Doppler method, particle image analysis and others. Immersion method measures particle diameter by image analysis of spray on the silicon oil. Since this method has lack of reproducibility, we typically use Phase Doppler method and particle image analysis.
